Spotlight on our Golden Oldies

Older adult romanian stray looking for a home

Amos, one of our golden oldies

We have quite a few in the shelter – some are very shy and cannot be touched but many are very adoptable and it would be so lovely to find them a wonderful retirement home for their autumn years. Obviously, oldies are not for everyone, but they do have so much to offer 💗

Generally, they are less work than younger dogs, they are not so active and so are happy to snooze away on the sofa, but still offer loyalty and love.

They will still need guidance and training of course, since very few oldies will have spent any time in a home environment.  They could be the ideal choice for first-time dog owners or for the older person who can no longer manage walking miles a day, but who still has the energy and time to offer a warm, loving home to an older dog in their retirement years.Handsome, male, friendly, older, medium

If adopting or fostering is not an option for you, perhaps you could consider being a sponsor for one of these glorious older dogs to help make their life more enjoyable during their last years. Some have been in the shelter for a very long time…
