Romanian Rescue Appeal (RRA) was started in 2014 to help stray dogs in Romania

Since the 1980s, the failures of the national government have led to a huge population of stray dogs being targeted on the street and tortured in public shelters.

RRA aims to make a difference to all this. We take a systemic approach and add value to each step of the chain that brings these dogs from the deprivation on the streets in Romania, to living a long healthy life in loving homes in the UK.

We carry out spay campaigns to control the population
We rescue dogs from an agonizing death that is certain in a public shelter
We raise precious funds to feed them and provide them with shelter and veterinary care
We advertise them to find them forever homes
We assess all applicants thoroughly to match them to the perfect dog
We care just as much for the adopter as the adoptee

All our staff in the UK are volunteers. We do not waste a single penny and reinvest all donations into the dogs.

Sponsor a Dog directly via Direct Debit, setting up a Standing Order or by making a regular donation on PayPal
Donate for your Birthday: if you’d like to opt out of receiving gifts this year, why not choose to create a fundraiser on Facebook | or via GoFundMe – for Romanian rescued dogs instead? You can ask your friends to donate the value of a card or a gift towards the gift of life for a dog
Donate items: we can always use blankets and dog toys / coats
Items in mint condition can be put up for auction / raffles
Other items can be sent directly to the Dogs in Romania via our Amazon Wishlist
Shopping online often? You can raise funds by browsing and ordering items through platforms such as EasyFundraising and The Giving Machine
Organise a Car Boot sale
Organise a Charity Event – it can be anything from a Bake Sale, a Sponsored Dog Walk, a 10k run or a Pub Quiz – you name it!
We can also set up Just Giving pages. Please don’t hesitate to contact our team if you need a hand in organising this, or if you simply want to bounce some ideas off someone
Reach out to local and high street shops for support: did you know that each Pets at Home local branch can support one charity? Why not reach out to your local store and see if they would be willing to host our donation box? Many other shops are willing to help too, just ask!
